Joe de Kadt was born in Sussex in 1972. Exactly seven years later he got his first camera and found his first love. After an interminable school education largely studying nonsense, a further four years reading ecology and conservation at Sussex University and a couple more years spent adventuring he returned to the realm of visual media by pursuing a career in the film industry.  Starting at the bottom in1997 making tea and sweeping floors he gradually worked up through the ranks of the camera department to director of photography. Currently living back in London after two years in Los Angeles and six in Cape Town he continues to work as a freelance DoP and photographer as well as producing independent features through his Californian production company, Baobab Sky.
